What are we tracking?

The Brandon Police Service (BPS) records all crimes against persons, which includes: homicides, attempted murders, sexual offences, assaults, robbery, uttering threats, forcible confinement, kidnapping, extortion, intimidation, criminal harassment, harassing communications, disregard for human life and abandoning child.

How are we measuring this?

In 2020 BPS received 836 calls pertaining to crimes against persons.  BPS utilizes the information as part of intelligence-led policing initiatives.  When an increase in crimes against persons are identified, strategies and directives are developed, such as; enhanced patrols in high-targeted areas.

What progress are we making?

The offences are recorded on the Police Report Occurrence System and compiled into a monthly report and shared with BPS members to formulate strategic initiatives.  The numbers recorded are based on the total calls received, not the number of charges laid.

Please note that the Brandon Police Service Scorecard totals may be subject to change to more accurately reflect our Records Management System.  Enquiries regarding these changes can be directed to the Brandon Police Service Media Relations Officer
