Crime Against Property
What are we tracking? The Brandon Police Service (BPS) records all property crimes, which includes: arson, break and enters, thefts, possession of stolen property, fraud, identity theft, identity fraud and mischief to property.
How are we measuring this?In 2020, the total number of calls BPS received pertaining to property crimes was 3,027. When a rise in property crimes are identified, the most suitable strategies are developed, including education and suppression techniques, such as: enhanced patrols in high-target areas, covert surveillance, and other initiatives.
What progress are we making? The offences are recorded on the Police Report Occurrence System and compiled into a monthly report and shared with BPS members to formulate strategic initiatives. The numbers recorded are based on the total calls received, not the number of charges laid.
Please note that the Brandon Police Service Scorecard totals may be subject to change to more accurately reflect our Records Management System. Enquiries regarding these changes can be directed to the Brandon Police Service Media Relations Officer
