What are we tracking?

The Eastview Landfill weighs and records all organic material that is collected throughout the City Of Brandon. This includes material collected from the residential collection program, from material dropped at the depots located throughout the city, or material brought to the Eastview Landfill.

How are we measuring this?

Organic material tonnage is weighed as collected and crosses the scale at the Eastview Landfill. This data is then compiled in the scale program and reported to the Province twice annually.

What progress are we making?

The Sanitation continues to see an annual increase in residents requesting green bins for residential collection year over year. Since the inception of the residential organic collection program in 2013, 8,323.84 tonnes of material has been diverted from entering the Landfill, and approx. 7500 households have joined the program. The number of tonnes of organic material has dropped over the last few years as the weather has been drier with less precipitation. As a result less grass clippings were produced, affecting the tonnage.
